2nd Place in the 2010 Butlins Mineworkers Championship

The 2010 Butlins Mineworkers Championship held on the 24th January 2010 in Skegness, has over 100 competing bands.

Hitchin Band was awarded 2nd place in third section winning �1,000 beating off stiff competition

Hitchin Youth Band on its marks!

Hitchin Band is a brass band with a tradition of nearly 150 years. But it has never had a Youth Band...until now! Hitchin Band launches their first ever CD

Hitchin Band�s first CD Brass Monkeys is now on sale at just �8.

Featuring a wide range of music played by the band, it was recorded in St Nicholas' Church, Barton-le-Clay near Hitchin during a rather cold spell in January 2009. Church heating is never the best but when it's broken... well the title says it all!

Hitchin Band Sponsored Blow with Herts Air Ambulance

This year�s Sponsored Blow will be raising funds for two causes: Hitchin Band ourselves and the Herts Air Ambulance

As well as raising money for two causes, the event will feature plenty of free music, the opportunity to conduct the band (for a donation) and some other fun as well.

The music starts at 10am on Saturday 4th July in Hitchin Market Square.

At the Area contest held in Stevenage this weekend, we managed to come 5th in the Third section.

A solid improvement on our 2008 position. We're already looking forward to the 2010 challenge!

Fourth place at Butlins!

At the Butlins National Brass Band festival held on the weekend of 17-19 January, Hitchin Band achieved 4th place against stiff opposition.
Competing in the 3rd section against bands from across the country, this is the second year running that the band has come 4th.

This is also the first contest the band has undertaken with our new MD Craig Patterson whos is delighted with the result!

Two members of the band have recently left for university: Andeep Birring from Baritone and Hannah Prince from cornet.
We wish them both well in their university courses and look forward to seeing them back with us when the term is over.

At the Area contest held in Stevenage this weekend, we managed to come 9th in the Third section.

Although we would have liked to come higher, we are pleased to be solidly placed in the middle of the section and in a good place for next year's challenge.
